Obsidian Starter Kit v4 Improvements since 4.0.0

Since shipping v4.0.0 two days ago, I've pushed three patch releases in quick succession: v4.0.1, v4.0.2, and v4.0.3. Here's the short version of what each one brought to the table.

Canonical version: Obsidian Starter Kit v4 Improvements since 4.0.0.

Since shipping v4.0.0 two days ago, I've pushed three patch releases in quick succession: v4.0.1, v4.0.2, and v4.0.3. Here's the short version of what each one brought to the table.

v4.0.1 (2026-05-16)

A small but important bug-fix release.

Fixed Templater startup errors that showed up on fresh v4.0.0 installs.
Fixed a runtime error that prevented creating new AI Wikis from the templates.

v4.0.2 (2026-05-17)

The "now it actually works on macOS" release, plus a wave of new skills.

Native macOS support for the bundled osk-cli validator (Apple Silicon and Intel).
Self-healing first-run on Mac; no more Gatekeeper dialogs or missing execute bits.
Three new skills: osk-research-convert (local files to markdown), osk-capture-dump (multi-fragment brain-dump routing), osk-meta-vault-import (plan migration from any existing Obsidian vault to OSK).
Two new skill clusters: osk-media-screenshot-* (list, analyze, and synthesize OS screenshots) and osk-media-slides-* (create slide decks and export to reveal.js HTML).
Upgraded the osk-thinking-premortem skill with context-gathering, hidden-assumption surfacing, and a pre-launch checklist.
A new PreCompact hook that snapshots conversation transcripts before Claude Code compacts the session context.
Cross-agent portability; Codex CLI and Gemini CLI hook configs ship out of the box.
A handful of bundled community plugins refreshed to the latest stable versions.

v4.0.3 (2026-05-19)

Plugin hygiene and a couple of quality-of-life wins.

Bundled OSK plugin bumped to v0.9.3, with a fix that prevents Select-typed properties from silently losing their allowed values on export.
TaskNotes bumped to 4.8.0 with the new "Keep checkbox when converting" setting enabled by default; inline checklists stay readable after promoting a task to a TaskNote.
Notebook Navigator bumped to 3.0.0 (a major release with drag-and-drop, grouping & manual sort).
node_modules is now hidden from the Notebook Navigator tree by default.
A new global property, sort_index, adds support for the Notebook Navigator plugin for Obsidian manual sort feature.
Several other bundled community plugins refreshed.
